The hectometer (hm) is useful for measuring sports tracks (1 lap = 4 hm), urban blocks (~1–2 hm long), or vineyard rows. Road signs in some European countries use hectometers for minor distance markers. The Rod (or pole/perch) was historically used in land surveying and agriculture. Measuring exactly 16.5 feet, rods were commonly used to define property boundaries. A standard American football field is 320 rods long (including end zones). This unit still appears in some property deeds and agricultural measurements.
To convert between Hectometer (hm) and Rod (rd), use the following formulas:
1 Hectometer (hm) = 19.883878151594686 Rod (rd)
1 Rod (rd) = 0.050292 Hectometer (hm)
1 hm = 1 * 19.883878151594686 rd = 19.883878151594686 rd
2 hm = 2 * 19.883878151594686 rd = 39.76775630318937 rd
5 hm = 5 * 19.883878151594686 rd = 99.41939075797343 rd
10 hm = 10 * 19.883878151594686 rd = 198.83878151594686 rd
