The Rod (or pole/perch) was historically used in land surveying and agriculture. Measuring exactly 16.5 feet, rods were commonly used to define property boundaries. A standard American football field is 320 rods long (including end zones). This unit still appears in some property deeds and agricultural measurements. The hectometer (hm) is useful for measuring sports tracks (1 lap = 4 hm), urban blocks (~1–2 hm long), or vineyard rows. Road signs in some European countries use hectometers for minor distance markers.
To convert between Rod (rd) and Hectometer (hm), use the following formulas:
1 Rod (rd) = 0.050292 Hectometer (hm)
1 Hectometer (hm) = 19.883878151594686 Rod (rd)
1 rd = 1 * 0.050292 hm = 0.050292 hm
2 rd = 2 * 0.050292 hm = 0.100584 hm
5 rd = 5 * 0.050292 hm = 0.25146 hm
10 rd = 10 * 0.050292 hm = 0.50292 hm
20 rd = 20 * 0.050292 hm = 1.00584 hm
50 rd = 50 * 0.050292 hm = 2.5146 hm
Rod (rd) | Hectometer (hm) |
---|---|
1 rd | 0.050292 hm |
2 rd | 0.100584 hm |
5 rd | 0.25146 hm |
10 rd | 0.50292 hm |
20 rd | 1.00584 hm |
50 rd | 2.5146 hm |
